Climate Change & Natural Resource Management
Building resilience through climate-smart solutions, sustainable resource management, and community-driven action.
APID empowers vulnerable communities across Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia to adapt to the impacts of climate change by promoting resilient agricultural practices, improving access to water, enhancing food security systems, and strengthening public health preparedness.
Through inclusive, climate-smart initiatives and partnerships with local leaders, environmental experts, and health workers, we help build a future where communities are food secure, economically resilient, and better equipped to thrive in an unpredictable world.

How We Work

1
Strengthening Natural Resource Governance
We empower communities to take the lead in managing and protecting their natural resources. Through inclusive governance structures, clear resource rights, and transparency mechanisms, we ensure that communities make sustainable, data-driven decisions that balance environmental conservation with livelihoods.
2
Building Climate Resilience and Disaster Preparedness
By fostering resilience, we equip vulnerable communities to adapt to and recover from climate shocks such as droughts, floods, and disease outbreaks. Our work includes developing early warning systems, facilitating disaster risk reduction planning, and promoting climate-smart agriculture and green energy to create long-term sustainability.

3
Rapid Emergency Response for Climate Shocks
We strengthen local capacities to respond to emergencies through community-based early warning systems, emergency resource prepositioning, and coordination with local leaders. Our goal is to ensure that lifesaving resources reach those in need swiftly and that communities recover stronger and better prepared for future risks.
